Welcome readers of the wonderful new book, The Runaway Sheep, by my good friend Dan Olson!
Dan asked me to write a lullaby to accompany the story; it was a fun challenge, and you can download the song below as a free gift. I hope it brings you and your little ones much joy.
Feel free to look around the site and see what other music you like, and thanks for visiting.
The Shepherd’s Lullaby
Wherever you wander, wherever you run
I’ll come for you always, my little one
I’ll walk through the mountains and over the sea
’til my little one’s here with me
And if you became a ship on a lake
Sailing so far from land
Then I’d be a storm, silver and warm
To bring you back home again
And if you dove deep in the bottomless sea
Never to hear me no more
Then I’d be the whale with the purple tail
I’d bring you to shore
Wherever you wander, wherever you run
I’ll come for you always, my little one
I’ll walk through the mountains and over the sea
’til my little one’s here with me
And if you became a stubborn old ox
Plowing your life away
What could I be, but a child asleep
Asleep in your box of hay?
And what would you do in the dark of the tomb
Away from my love and light?
I’d fetch you out with a glory shout
I’d bring you to life
Wherever you wander, wherever you run
I’ll come for you always, my little one
I’ll walk through the mountains and over the sea
’til my little one’s here with me
I’ll look through the planets and behind the sun
I’ll seek ’til I find you, my little one
And all through the cosmos, and beyond the stars
’til my little one’s in my arms
I’ll walk through the mountains and over the sea
’til my little one’s here with me
Oh, little one, rest in me
